About SUMMA 3D

Summa3D is an international animation competition, focused on students, professionals and lovers of animation and special effects, but it is actually a call for all those involved in the industry to join and actively support the development of new talents and new projects to enhance animation and special effects.

 

Participants

Any individual over 18 years old or any legal entity may participate and, in both cases, must be the owner without limitation of the intellectual property rights, and specifically, of the use rights of the work submitted to the contest.

Requirements for Participation

Participation in the contest implies full acceptance of these terms and conditions. Any circumstance not covered by these terms and conditions will be determined by the jury in an irrevocable resolution.

Registration Process

If you want to register in Summa3D you just have to visit the “participate” area, always after reading the contest rules and fill in the participation form, indicating the categories you want to apply for. After validating your candidature you will receive in your e-mail an individual link for each category in which you participate, where you will be able to upload your material.

Category “Finished Short Films”

Entries in the “short film completed in 2020/21/22” category, in addition to filling out the submission form, must be submitted through the festhome website by filling in all the required fields.

Important Information

In order to participate, it is mandatory to fill in the participation form. After validating your application, we will send you a link through which you can send the material for the contest. For the finished short film category, the short film must also be uploaded to the festhome platform, in the specific area for SUMMA3D.

Short Film Project

Work In Progress

Summa3D competition category aimed at those producers, directors and screenwriters who are immersed in the creation of an animated short film, which has not yet been completed but has such a development that it can be evaluated at the project level both artistically, organizationally and economically.

Documentation to Submit

  • Proof of ownership of storyboard, designs, drawings, concept art, color scripts, character designs, scenarios, etc.
  • Short film synopsis
  • Finished script of the short film
  • Fully finished storyboard or animatic
  • Any additional material in progress will be appreciated. Designs, concepts, color studies, scenarios, models, animations, etc.
  • Work plan. Gantt chart or similar
  • Credits (work in progress or document)
  • Project budget
  • Budget summary sheet
  • Supporting documentation for financing plan

Character Design

Summa3D competition category aimed at those artists who feel capable of designing an animated character in 2D or 3D that could be the main character for future adventures. The design of the character and its personality will be evaluated. It is as important what is seen as what is not seen of the character. It is absolutely imperative to show the character in a situation that shows its personality instead of just presenting it in a “turn around”.

  • Character sketches

    • Study of poses, facial expressions, costumes, etc.
    • Descriptive documents, character’s life background, etc.

Finished Animation Short Film

Completed in 2020, 2021 or 2022

Summa3D competition category aimed at those producers, directors and screenwriters who have completed an animated short film during the years 2020, 2021 or 2022, which will be evaluated in the artistic field.

Documentation to Submit

  • Finished short film of a minimum of 1 minute and a maximum of 35 minutes in resolution of at least 1920×1080 pixels (FullHD)
  • Memory signed by the production company, the scriptwriter and the director of the short film
  • Proof of ownership of the graphic designs, drawings, plastic creations or images used in the short film
  • Synopsis of the script of the short film
  • Credit titles
  • Submit your Short Film to the contest via festhome

Best Videogame PROJECT

Work In Progress

Summa3D competition category aimed at those producers, designers and programmers who are immersed in the creation of a video game, which has not yet been completed but has such a development that it can be evaluated at the project level both at the artistic, technical, organizational and economic level. The video game can be of any type (Action, Arcade, Sports, Strategy, Simulation, Board Games, Musical, etc.) and be aimed at any platform (phone, tablet, console or PC).

Documentation to Submit

  • Proof of ownership of designs, drawings, concept art, color scripts, character designs, scenarios, etc.
  • Video game teaser or playable beta (optional)
  • Synopsis of the videogame
  • Gameplay design documents
  • Work plan. Gantt chart or similar
  • Credits (work in progress or document)
  • Project budget
  • Budget summary sheet
  • Supporting documentation for financing plan

Cinerama Special Award

Best Animated Short Film 2020, 2021 or 2022

Summa3D competition category is intended for participants in the “Finished Animation Short Film” category, and the evaluation will be carried out by our sponsor, Cinerama. By participating in this category, you will automatically be considered for this award.

Documentation to Submit

  • Same than in “Finished Animation Short Film” category
    • Finished short film of a minimum of 1 minute and a maximum of 35 minutes in resolution of at least 1920×1080 pixels (FullHD)
    • Memory signed by the production company, the scriptwriter and the director of the short film
    • Proof of ownership of the graphic designs, drawings, plastic creations or images used in the short film
    • Synopsis of the script of the short film
    • Credit titles

Prizes may change

The prizes for each of the winners are subject to possible improvements during the course of the contest. These changes will be notified through this website. The prizes will be indivisible and may be declared void if, in the opinion of the jury, the proposals submitted do not comply with the rules or do not have enough quality.

HIDDEN
PUBLICATION OF WORKS

The contestants expressly authorize the organization of the contest that their works may be projected in whole or in part, for promotional purposes as deemed appropriate and without profit. The contest is only authorized in the case of television and internet media to use excerpts from the film. In no case of the complete film.

PERSONAL DATA

The collection and processing of personal data is for the purpose of managing the participants in the Contest, as well as sending them information about the Contest and other activities that the Contest Organization may organize in the future.

The contestants authorize the sponsors to include their personal data in the official communications of the contest and its diffusion, as well as its use and treatment, automated or not, provided that its purpose is the management and registration of the operations derived from the contest. For what purpose do we process the User’s personal data?

VIING will collect certain personal data through the following forms with the corresponding purposes.

Contact us: resolution of queries and sending the requested information, related to the products and services, or current news through newsletters, commercial emailing, etc.

What is the legal basis for the processing of the User’s personal data?

The legal basis that legitimizes and allows us to process the User’s personal data is the consent given by the User by explicitly accepting this Privacy Policy, accepting the “check box”, made available in the data collection forms referred to above.

How long will we keep the User’s personal data?

VIING will keep the personal data provided for the time necessary to fulfill the request made by the User.

To which recipients will the User’s personal data be communicated?

  • Right to erasure: the User has the right to ask us to delete or remove his/her personal data in certain circumstances when, among other reasons, the data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or if he/she withdraws his/her consent (in relation to consent-based processing).

The authors of the works grant the Organization of the contest the rights of exploitation of these, consisting of the reproduction and exhibition of the short film within the general context of this contest, in any of its editions, as well as for advertising or promotional purposes of the same, which will always be exercised with the recognition of their status as authors, unless otherwise stated.

Participants guarantee that the works they submit to the contest are original, that they do not infringe the rights of third parties and that they have not performed and will not perform any act likely to prevent or hinder the Organization and the Sponsors the full and peaceful exercise of the rights granted in their favor by these Contest rules.
